Why this wiki?
This wiki will be our space for all notes, documents and exchange of information to prepare for the session and to work on together during the session.
What to do with this wiki before the session?
Visit the wiki and ensure you have reviewed all content we already shared with you in the email message to prepare you for the session.
Complete the self-assessment tool. This is the link to the self-assessment quiz. If you complete the quiz by December 23, 2011, it will ensure that the data gleaned will inform our session agenda. You can complete the quiz only once. The anonymous data collected will inform us as to what type of tools and interests we need to meet during your specific session. Everyone from the same session completes the same self-assessment. Link Password:prodprot

Deep Learning Task - Day 1
Consider the following two questions. Reflect on them and share your responses with a partner. Then write your contribution as part of this discussion.
Question 1) What are the reasons you are attending this workshop and what do you hope to obtain from these two days?
Question 2) Read this definition of "deep learning" (also known as Transformative Learning) and share your thoughts about it.
"Transformative Learning is a theory of deep learning that goes beyond just content knowledge acquisition, or learning equations, memorizing tax codes or learning historical facts and data. It is a desirable process for adults to learn to think for themselves, through true emancipation from sometimes mindless or unquestioning acceptance of what we have to come to know through our life experience, especially those things that our culture, religions, and personalities may predispose us towards, without our active engagement and questioning of how we know what we know. " (from http://transformativelearningtheory.com/corePrinciples.html)
